I started the free classified site Classifieds For Free in 1996. There was only a handful of free classified sites in those days. The hosting was expensive and ad revenue was non-existent. I had to limit the number of ads people can post to control my losses.

Things have changed because hosting cost has gone down drastically and I can generate revenue from advertisement. Now I can afford powerful dedicated servers and I don’t have to limit the number of ads one can post.

However, the bad side of this is that some people post ads in all categories. This is not only an ineffective marketing strategy, it also brings down the over all value of the site and everybody suffers.

I am urging everybody to limit their ads to appropriate categories only. You are welcome to post as many ads as you wish but, please, limit it to the appropriate categories.

Over the last decade, I have also learnt a lot about internet marketing. It was very simple in the 90s. Today, there are more channels for online marketing and lots of competition. But the basic fundamentals still remain the same. If you have a good grasp of those fundamentals, you will be able to pick up the more advanced methods easily.

This blog is about free and low cost online advertisement to drive web traffic. I also talk about free ebooks and videos that help you understand online marketing and free software that increases your productivity.

To be successful, you need to take actions and implement ideas that you learn here or anywhere else. There is no secret formula for success that I know of. I think the only magic formula for success is a combination of knowledge, hard work and persistency.
