Single Fluid Heating Cooling System | Kerone By Kerone Engineering Solutions Ltd.Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) manufacturing is quite a complex process that includes various steps like batch reactions, work-ups, distillation, crystallization, hydrogenation, layer separation, filtration, and drying. To break it down a bit, batch reactions involve heating and cooling stages that can range from -50 °C to +250 °C. In the past, this process relied on a mix of utilities such as chilled brine, chilled water, cooling water, hot water, low-pressure steam, high-pressure steam, and thermic fluid, among others. KERONE stands out as a leader in the design, manufacturing, and installation of specialized heating, cooling, and drying systems tailored specifically to meet the unique process requirements of our clients, thanks to our experienced team of engineers. We’re recognized for our high-quality products and cutting-edge technology, which is why we offer both traditional heating and cooling systems as well as advanced technology solutions. However, there are some limitations to consider: - Different heat transfer fluids (HTFs) may need separate coils, heating and cooling jacket zones, or external heat exchangers. - Changing HTFs can be time-consuming and carries the risk of human error. - There’s a potential for cross-contamination of HTFs. - Using multiple utilities can lead to corrosion of the reactor jacket. - Recovering condensate isn’t always feasible. - Poor management of HTFs can result in inaccurate temperature control. - Deviations in process parameters can negatively impact product quality. - The mechanical design can be complicated, leading to higher capital and maintenance costs. On the bright side, here are some features of our systems: - A temperature range from 35 °C to 250 °C with precise control to within ±1 °C. - Quick heating or cooling capabilities that help reduce batch times. - All wetted parts are made from stainless steel. - The system is fully enclosed and mounted on wheels for easy mobility. - No need to switch between jacket service fluids, which helps prevent cross-contamination, corrosion, or thermal shocks to the vessel. - A remote control panel with flameproof enclosures suitable for gas groups IIA and IIB. - An automation system controlled by a PLC that can be integrated with SCADA. The advantages are clear: - You get accurate temperature control to ±1 °C without risking your reactor. - Rapid heating or cooling processes help streamline your operations.
