Here's a summary of what we learned: 1. Avoid Overloading: Our students strongly advised against cramming vast amounts of information just before an exam. This approach, commonly practiced by students, often prioritizes shallow recall over deep understanding, resulting in poor long-term retention of material—a phenomenon known as the spacing effect. 2. Prefer Self-Study Over Group Study: While some students excel at studying late at night, others prefer daytime study sessions. Self-study allows students to tailor their study schedules to their preferences and take breaks as needed. It also empowers students to explore topics of interest further, enhancing their study skills and fostering a deeper understanding of the subject matter. 3. Opt for Offline Mode: Disconnect from the internet, turn off electronic devices, and eliminate all distractions during study sessions. Using a basic phone for calls only and taking notes by hand can aid in better retention of concepts. Eliminating sources of disturbance allows for better concentration and focus during study sessions. Switching off the internet and electronic devices may be challenging, especially if you're accustomed to constant connectivity. Consider using tools like routers with internet usage time restrictions to enforce study schedules effectively.
